Ali’s Family Round - Wainwright Challenge
How many Wainwright fell tops can you reach from the front door of The Climbers Shop, during shop hours?
Use the Ali’s Family Round map create your own mini Wainwright adventure, choose your own route through the fells to gain as many summits and points on foot as possible. Before returning to The Climbers Shop before 4.00 pm! Gaining the furthest Wainwright fell tops from the shop and gaining as many bonus points as possible will earn you a higher-level certificate.
However, keep an eye on the time as returning late will cost you some of your hard-earned points! Returning 10 minutes late to the shop, (4.10pm) will incur a 5-point deduction from your total points. Return up to 30 minutes late and you lose 10 points, so be careful!
Bonus points:
5 bonus points for a summit selfie.
5 bonus points for a wildlife photo.
5 bonus points for a photo of performing the yoga mountain pose, on a mountain
5 bonus points for a photo of a wildflower
How many points of contact can you have with a trig point? 1 point for each, (not all summits have a trig point)
Gain as many points as possible to earn a higher-level certificate:
Bronze level – 5 points
Silver level – 20 points
Gold level – 50 points
To be entered onto the Ali’s family round leader board please send us a Strava gpx file of your route with the total points gained for the day. Please remember to log your walk / run on Strava as a race, so that it will record the total time elapsed. Your route and photos can also be added to our Facebook page should you wish.
The rules:
· A round must start and finish at The Climbers Shop. Starting at 9am or later and finishing by 4.00 pm
· Each summit is only counted once.
· The points for each summit are awarded in bands expanding from The Climbers Shop.
· The countryside code must always be followed.
· Returning late incurs point penalties. 10 minutes late to the shop, (4.10pm) will incur a 5-point deduction from your total points. Return up to 30 minutes late and you lose 10 points.
· To gain a place on the leader board a Strava gpx file, total points gained, and time taken must be emailed to The Climbers Shop and verified. If you have any photos that you are happy for us to use for social media, please send across.
