Petzl - Lunar Round

You know us. We are always keen to support an exciting new running event or round if we can.

Alongside our very own daytime Ali’s Round, we are proud to introduce to you, The Lunar Round - to be completed between Sunset and Sunrise (a nighttime one for you too!)

So what is the Lunar Round all about?
The Lunar Round is a series of summits that must be reached in order either clockwise or anti-clockwise, starting from The Climbers Shop in Ambleside, The Lake District.

The round must be completed between sunset and sunrise, with each season presenting it's own challenges.

The Lunar Round is approximately 40km with 2,900m ascent and must include the Summits: Red Screes, Little Hart Crag, Dove Crag, Hart Crag, Fairfield, Seat Sandal,Steel Fell, Calf Crag, High Raise, Harrison Stickle, Blea Rigg, Silver Howe, Loughrigg.

How do I get started?
The Lunar Round can be walked or run at any time of the year in either a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction, the only caveat being that you must complete your round between sunset and sunrise.  In midwinter this can give around 15 hours to complete your round but you could face some challenging Lake District conditions! In mid summer the time available drops to around 6 1/2 hours and although conditions may be far better you might still experience some challenging Lake District conditions!

As usual, please exercise good mountain sense and be prepared for rapidly changing weather, night navigation and the full set of challenges a round can throw at you in the dark of our mountains.

To submit your round email us at lunarround@petzl.co.uk with your name and a photo of you starting and finishing at The Climbers Shop if possible.. We also need the stats from your Strava, Garmin, RunKeeper, MapMyRun etc. to show start/finish and total elapsed time from leaving the shop to returning.

Prizes!
To launch The Lunar Round the first 50 submissions will receive a Petzl Buff.
